I get a similar sound on the clean channel on my Hot Rod Deluxe. It also makes a 'farting' type noise, and it breaks up really quickly. (by that I mean it sounds messy like). I was thinking it could be the tubes, but I'm not sure.

I've had a few strange issues with Fender amps, mostly with the 91(ish) Super 210 I have.

1) It would eat tubes
2) For most of the tube life, they were "going bad"
3) They'd produce this scratching sound, almost like you were running your fingernail on the speaker cone or something, and hearing that amplified.
4) Once they were worse, the volume would just go up and down on its own.

Standard issue when tubes go bad, but this ones eats up tubes a lot. Had it in for a number or repairs, etc. I like the clean on it, so it's pretty much just my clean amp, with occasional low gain for some things. The gain on it (and most Fender amps) gets muddy as hell real quick to I use my Mesa for most gigs. Better sounds all around and FAR more reliable.
