Hey there strat players in the world.

We all know how sacred and precious hendrix's isle of wight guitar is. Someone out there has this guitar stored somewhere around their house unplayed with 40 year old strings to them.

So I was just asking, if it was YOU. Would you tell everyone that you owned this or any other precious disappeared strat?

I honestly wouldnt tell a soul in the world about my secret possesion. I would probably have that microsoft guy banging at my door for it in exchange for millions of dollars if someone found out I owned it. Or probably get killed or even threatened because of it.

It is also probably one of the reasons that nobody in the world knows where it is.

Edit: topic title changed to suit more.

Hi TheMagician: you mean you haven't heard about my famous Strat?

I'm offended.

(Joke.)

I'd tell everyone who is a big collector with the big money to support it. These are the only ones whom I'd want to know. Pitted against each other, eventually one would buy it from me for a ridiculous sum of money and then, I'd take that money and buy lots of, "non famous", superior specimen Stratocasters and appliance upgrades to go with them. If I have any money left over, I might even pay some bills too!

That guitar is owned by Ulrich Roth, right? The guitar went to Hendrix's girlfriend, who a few years after Hendrix's death started to date Roth. They were on-again/ off-again for a good twenty or so years until she commited suicide, thus leaving the git with Roth.

As for the "would I tell any one?" question. My answer is "yeah, I would tell everyone in the world about my (fill in the blank) holy guitar that I am SELLING at Christie's. Please feel free to bid." I am not a memorabilia or autograph guy -- just give me the money...

No, I wouldn't tell anyone because they would probably all know anyway?

I would tell everyone and try to get into a few magazines with it and then I would get it to Sotheby's and sell to the highest bidder.

first the guitar would have to be given to
me. i have never been the type just because
someone famouse person eaither played or pissed on somthing
it makes it some magical thing. if that was the case i
would rather own edward van halens frankenstrat
over the hendris strat. and the answer to the question
is no.

like many i would do everything in my power to alert the too-rich collectors, not to brag but in order to sell it for as much as possible.

I agree with always, about not caring if someone famous owned it. the only memorabilia i have like that are some guitar picks and drum sticks I snagged when thrown into the audience of a concert i was at. the only guitar i have that i care who owned it before me, is one a dear friend who passed away gave me shortly befiore he died.

I would keep my trap shut until like others said, I would get the chance to either call Christie's or Sotheby's and arrange for it's auction. Even at that point, I would keep my i.d. private and start collecting other instruments and amplifiers from the proceeds.

Remember that the univibe.com link is over 15 years old. That was from 1992.

Nobody really knows if Uli owns it.

Orville...the question now remains as to whether or not the present keeper will be altruisitic enough to see it end up in your corner of the world at the EMP or whether or not it will go the Christies route and find Paul Allen duking it out with Guitar Center to break the record set by the "Blackie"....after which...it will either go to Seattle, or become part of another enterprise between FMIC and Guitar Center as a Tribute Strat selling for a king's ransom. 8) 8)

Where can I find more guys like you?

Exactly what I was thinking, but didnt know how to word it out.

Thanks, doc.

And I dont know, guys. It would be pretty hard to find a maple cap polyester finish 1968 strat, if not from the custom shop.

So even if hendrix didnt own it.

I sure as hell wouldn't like my stratocaster to sit behind a glass until it became nothing but dust. Or even sold, for that matter.
