Hey guys-

I am working on a new tune and my drummer just sent over the first cut... recorded live in one take in a lousy practice room on a 4 track.

It is my Strat through a Matchless turned all the way up with no effects. Please excuse the sloppiness of it all, and especially the singing and lyrics (what is on this track is only to organize things and hold the melody).

This really wasn't meant to be heard by anyone else but I thought it might be fun to have a thread tracking the progress of the song. Oh, and it's missing the bridge (my favorite part). Anyway, enough excuses. Have a listen and let me know what you think.

Thanks, PSHUTTLE! That's too nice.

That is not our singer, by the way. Drummer just did that to fill in the space. I'm going to try and get another live cut but with bass, real singer, and better lyrics to you guys next week so stay tuned.

CW,I just read your post and did not drop down to see what anyone else wrote and just clicked play. Now that DID I dont have to tell you to get a real vocalist.I loved the track no shitin it was on the money ,I would just find a good vocalist /lyracist to help you out as I hear the song in a differant way than it was sung and the lyrics could use some help or maybe go in a totaly differant direction than as a love song.I know this is a very rough draft so I am just giving you some avenues to look at as I liked the music and playing that much.I would like to hear something else by you if you can post, and just work a lil bit on your bends as a few were sharp. If I did not think you were talented I would not say anything negative but you are ,and dont rush just to get a finished project you have a keeper there and I hope a lot more where that came from.

You're booked!

Seriously, very nice indeed. And done direct into a four track? Sounded pretty neat, I'd say.

No doubt about the influence - which is all to the good.

Please be sure to return to this thread and post again when you have a recording with the absent bridge. Didn't feel like there was anything missing, but I'd sure like to hear how it goes.

BTW: a Matchless, huh? Man...

Cheers - C

Thanks for the input, guys (and the kind words!).

We have a really good vocalist- he just wasn't there when we decided to put that down and the lyrical direction is definitely going in a different direction.

I will follow up next week with a cleaner version with bass, real vocalist and a better arrangement.

Hey CW,

I'm impressed... 8) the guitar thru the Matchless really shines...Your licks are smooth and I really like the changes at the end... Love to hear the bridge....Hope the drummer sticks to his drums... I really couldn't make out the lyrics so much but I'm waiting patiently for the rest of this one...
