ok i found a 25th anniversary for sale in good condition, but this one seems odd it has a double humbucker in the bridge, and a single in the middle and neck, were there made like this from the factory and whats one of these things worth , the serial # puts it almost half way through production, it is in the 4000's ,so if any knows anything more about them that would be great
i can more than likely get this thing for around the 800-900 mark

Hi spirit83ca: 25th anniversary... of what, please?

Would that be a guitar made for a shop, perhaps? Like this one?

Or maybe it's something like this?

Photos and more info would be very helpful...

Hi again spirit83ca: well, if it is the 25th anniversary of the Stratocaster itself then you are looking at a 1979 guitar, and if it is real and in good condition then $800 - 900 would be a good price.

Probably be a pretty good price for any late '70s Strat!

Read that article I linked to. Some handy info there to help you...

Cheers - C

yeah i read that link it was pretty col, but it still did not help me on the double pickup deal, but as far as i can tell this guitar really looks like the real deal and the serial # plate has the right # on it

I have never heard of an from-the-factory-stock HSS 1979 25th Anniversary Stratocaster.

It was most likely modified by a previous owner.

+1 -- Which (along with possible condition issues?) would explain the ridiculously low $800 price tag.

House of Guitars has a 25th Anniversary Strat, but it's not for sale. It's in a case with the certificate showing that it was presented to the store.

Spirit,The guitar was modified as they never issued it with a hummbucker. There wereonly 10,000 made whith the first 500 done in pearl white, with these ones the the most rare. The other 9,500 were done in porsche silver with the serial number on the neck plate. They came out in 1979 and is significant because it was the return of the 4 bolt neck, the end of the bullet truss rod and the first Fender to have locking tuners(sperzall) in 87 these features morphed into the Standard.I have seen these fetch in the close to 3 grand range.

What was the route like back then? If it was not permanently modified, and Spirit83ca returns it back to stock form, this could be a very financially rewarding project.

Spirit83ca: What color is it?

iF IT HAS A HUMBBUCKER IT WAS ROUTED AND THAT IS MOST DEFFINETLY GOING TO EFFECT THE PRICE.EVERYONE REMEMBER IF YOU HAVE AN AX THAT IS GOING TO INCREASE IN VALUE OVER THE YEARS AND WANT TO MOD IT MAKE SURE TO SAVE ALL THE ORIGINAL HARDWARE AND DONT DRILL OR ROUTE ANY OF THE WOOD.
