I rarely use it. Don't prefer the tones with S-1 engaged over positions 1, 5 and 4 dis-engaged. ('07/'08 American Deluxe)

But those tones, and this maple neck/board that were carved in Heaven, are exquisite.

Hi stratrat66. On my HSS the switch gives me all three pickups on as one option. I like that one: rich and fat, somewhere different to go for a solo.

Don't use the other switch down settings much. Now I have those sounds and can hear what they're like I find I probably didn't need them after all...

A nice extra gizmo to have available though. It's a keeper, even though I only use it occasionally.

Cheers - C

Love it. Wish there was a better all 3 on setting than 2 pickups in parallel and one in series. I'd rather all three in series connection and perhaps a neck and bridge option too. I'd gladly lose the neck and mid with special capacitor setting to make room.

Crikey: I certainly couldn't remember that off the top of my head. Just ran upstairs to check that wiring pattern, and of course you're right.

In fact what I'd forgotten is that I have two all-pickups-on settings, one with the full humbucker and one with it split. Both offer one series and one parallel connection, though it is arranged differently in each case.

I must admit, I don't use that three-single-coils option. It's the humbucker plus the other two I like. However it's wired it sounds nice to me.

Strange thing: the bridge setting is full series humbucker whether the S1 switch is up or down, so it only offers nine different sounds, not ten. In theory then they could give us neck+bridge as well - unless the innards of the S1 prevent it.

Don't remember if the HSS has the special capacitor or not. Can I be bothered to check...?

Cheers - C

I love the S-1 switch. I find that I use different combinations, but mostly I use the bridge pickup with the switch on.........since I play rhythm.

I love mine. In fact on an SSS Strat for me it is a must for distortion. I only use the up position if I'm playing clean.

It's the best of both worlds :D

Opps......I meant to say I use the neck pickup with the switch on.

It's a beautiful thing. So many tones to choose from. And you don't have to reach for a switch to engage it cos the volume is right there.

I think it's the best thing since the introduction of the Strat
