Hi I've had my Strat for about 15 years (it's a Mexican 1994, MN423388).

My Strat has an extra two-position selector switch (separate from the 5 position pick-up selector).

I haven't seen any other Strat with this extra selector switch - can anyone explain what this does? Obviously I can hear the difference when I use the switch, but don't know what it does, and I don't know why I've never seen this on any other Strat since.

Thanks

Did you buy the guitar second hand?

Your guitar probbaly didn't come from the factory with that switch.

The three most likely uses for that switch would be:

Turning on either the bridge or neck pup so you can have neck and bridge together...

Reversing the phase of the middle pickup...

A booster amp of some kind.

Do you hear the effect of the switch on all five pickup selector settings?

Thanks for taking the time.

To be honest I'm not 100% sure if this 2-position switch affects the sound of all the 5 positions on the main selector. I'm in work at the moment, so will check tomorrow.

I was under the impression that it was new when I bought it, but it was a long time back, and there's been a lot of booze under the bridge since then.

Is there a way I can post a link of a picture of this switch?
