let me say guys, ive done it before to my hwy 1, took me couple of tries till i figured out what i was doing wrong.
any way this is the order i took,
removed 9s, strung in 10s.
adjusted truss rod, adjusted claw.
set up action, intonation....fret buzz, uuuuggghhhh...
took a deep breath, adjusted action to 4/64, truss rod to .10
adjusted bridge to body height, checked intonation.
perfect...
after 2 hours from begining to end.
tone is slightly fuller, my rhythm is better more controlled.
just takes patience, and take your time with it. measure and check.
now i havent messed with pu height, but that will be a day i want to experiment...

Do you mean relief to .10" or .10mm? I've found that fret buzz seems to increase when in slacken the truss rod, thereby incresing relief to the Fender recommended .25/.30mm for a 9.5" radius fretboard, EVEN THOUGH doing so raises the action?? Can't quite understand that, I'd have thought that would REDUCE fret buzz.

I'm very interested in the whole science of 'set-up'.

After all, surely providing action at the nut end is optimized surely the rest is just truss rod & saddle height & intonation, or am I missing something??

I've set one of my strats up to the recommended Fender relief and action height but the third string still sounds crap; as a result I'm considering a pro set up or even pleking to sort it out!

Surely it can't be that much of a 'black art'??
