And they were good, even though they could barely move anymore, they sounded great! No Christy McVie though, and Nicks sang some of her parts and one of her songs....not the same without her.

They had backup singers to help as well. Old Lindsey Buckingham had the most energy by far. He sounded perfect on vocals and the guitar. He has not lost a thing. Mick Fleetwood can still play as well.

What does this have to do with a strat? Well, Lindsey didn't play a Fender all night, in fact I don't recognize any of his guitars, I guess they are custom. He has one of the strangest finger picking techniques I have even seen, he never uses a pick. However, there were two backup guitarists doing rythm stuff and both were playing strats, which I found interesting.

Anyway, it was a great show, and somehow even when those oldies play those songs, there is a sexyness to it all...ya know.... "lay me down in the tall grass and let me do my stuff."

Thanks for the review! 8)

John McVie has been one of my favorite bassists since I first heard him on John Mayall's "Beano" album with EC.

I saw Stevie Nicks about a year ago and was very impressed with her show, band and band leader, Waddy Wachtel.

Here in Saint Louis, they did not seem disappointed with the crowd. It was an older crowd than you normally see at a Rock show, but these people were around durning the great years and still like rock music. There was good mix in the crowd, with some young girls who tried to jump the wall to get down on the floor. They were caught as soon as the first of them started to hike her leg over....funny

I agree, I can say that I seen them and won't go again if the opportunity arises. Unfortunately, I feel that way about a lot of artists now

I saw Page and Plant a few years ago, when they came out with the Walking to Clarksdale (I think that is what it was called) album. The show was pretty much all Zeppelin. I must say, I was never in awe like seeing those guys. I was in awe, and starstruck the moment they walked out. Jimi Page was one of the reasons I wanted to play guitar. I think they played really well, but I was so in awe, they might have sucked for all I know. The best and most impactful show I ever saw regardless. I was totally blown away, well worth the $100 admission price. I know half the band was not there, but I still feel like I seen the closest thing to Zeppelin I may ever see.

I also only remember bits and pieces of concerts.... It's part of the culture

I have seen a lot of bands over the years, Outside of the above bands: Metallica, Megadeth(2), Slayer(2), Testament, Ted Nugent(2-3), Aerosmith (x2), Triumph(SP), Black Sabbath (Ozzy and Dio), The Ozzfest bands of 2000, AC/DC (2-3), Kiss(no makeup, no good), Yngvie Malmsteen(bad except the solo), Van Halen (1984 tour-My 1st concert and a doozy), Sammy Hagar, David Lee Roth, Steve Miller, Joe Cocker, and I sure there is more.

I don't know of any band that's gone through as many changes (music, musicians, producers, labels) and still had such reasonable success as Fleetwood Mac has.

I first saw them back in '69 with Peter Green, then again about '72 with Bob Welch and they had released some strong tracks, but commercial success didn't really happen until they added Buckingham & Nicks.

He plays a few different Gibson and Rick Turner guitars.

Wachtel has a real interesting bio if you care to take the time to Google it. I used to have it around here somewhere, but no longer.

I'm a big fan of Fleetwood Mac, mainly Lindsey. Great guitarist, way underrated. His version of "Big Love" from The Dance dvd is just amazing!! I saw them on that tour, but haven't seen them since Christine announced her retirement shortly after that.

Lindsey started out in the Mac playing Les Paul Customs, but I think by the time of Tusk he had switched over to the Turners. Rick Turner was one of the luthiers that started Alembic.

Buckingham was fun to watch. He really works hard to charge up the audience. Very interesting guitars and playing style, I agree. He could be one of the more under rated players out there.

Buckingham is quite a player to just sit and watch. Unconventional in every aspect.

Bonus - Waddy is great guitar player. Nice.

Buckingham's tone is one of my favorites ever. He uses a Turner Model 1 with very heavy strings on it. They cost a fortune and a half but you can get pretty close to that tone with a nice Strat.

Buckingham is the total package-his solo albums and tours are especially great. He DOES play Strats in the studio and occasionally live--on "Go Your Own Way" during his solo tours. He also uses a Taylor cutaway and a Gibson Chet Atkins as well as many Turners, early on Teles and Les Pauls-only because that was the "Fleetwood Mac guitar sound" of Green/Kirwan/Welch--He once said that Les Pauls were a very poor match for his own style of playing. Everyone I know of who saw the latest F-Mac tour was blown away by how good a player he is.

I like him as an artist, but as a person he seems extremely quirky and controlling (this probably is true of many big name musicians). My wife and I base our opinion of him based on a VH1 classic show with and about them. Part of that controlling personality is his need for what he views as perfection. You have to give him credit for his strong convictions, but some of his songs are far less than perfect to us (Big Love), while others are great (we love second hand news). But by far, we feel his best stuff was written in colaboration with Stevie and Christy. Even Mick said that he was always the one with the vision and they followed. Stevie once said that when he was not inclinded to help her with her songs that she felt like someone stole her music. On the flip side, Christy's and Stevie's best stuff was also written in colaboration with Lindsey.

On another note, we often wonder why did Stevie never married (beside one brief stint with her dead friends widower)? What a beautiful 70's/80's girl she was. We know that she had lovers, but why never the one? Was it because its Lindsey and he married someone else? That is what we think...they came out holding hands, and one point of a song they were cuddling....what is going on there? How does Lindsey's wife accept them touring knowing their past....that is a lot of trust from a woman married to a rock star who tours with his old girlfriend and was known to mix it up with some groupy girls....interesting and mystifying

Inquiring minds want to know

Fleetwood Mac... not the same without Christine McVie... I've got some CDs Fleetwood Mac the Blues years that do not sound anything like the Fleetwood Mac I grew up with. I guess that would go back to Bob Welch and Pete Green.
