Let the collectors have the 'Road Worn' and leave real guitars to those who can and do play them.

The guitar world is in the same toilet as the rest of the music industry. All of these great tones that we have come to love- SRV's #1, Blackie, etc. All were made with guitars purchased at reasonable rates by real musicians...Not possible any more.

Funny point, Schnep. I agree totallly about these clowns that buy new "Commercial Off The Shelf" (COTS) thinking they are about make a killing.

A buddy of mine collects guitars. He cant play them, but he tries to pull off the pro-musician lifestyle. I think he's a trust fund sort of guy. Anyway... he bought 3 brand new Martin accoustic. I dont know the models. He owns about 15 martins, 2-3 nice taylors and an asortment of electrics including some need old Gretch hollow bodies.

Well, he bought these 3 Martin for MSRP from some store. Mind you, he cant play them, but he strums them to demonstrate their wonderful tone. I asked him how he felt they will sound in 20 years after they mature and age, etc. He then realized that these guitars wont sound the same as they do now and that maybe he made a mistake. So he took them to another music shop and sold them on consignment for about 65% of what he paid only 3 months earlier.

Im completely dumbfounded. I should do business with this guy...from the other side of the table obviously.

It boggles the mind! Seems sort of like someone without a driver's licence buying a new Maserati. What's the point?

The Queen does it quite often. Although my mates uncle got princess Anne through her test.

57 hot rod is a serious piece of wood and steel that is just beggin to rock the crap out of the blues... but its ok, im sure you play your 50th anniversary am deluxe, right???? :?

Took it for a whirl today (dress rehearsall for a gig saturday). I see what you mean its some serious bit of kit for live work. Incredibly simple compared to the deluxe with all the sounds i want.
