Hello all,

I just bought a used 2002 Mexican Strat with two humbuckers and a 5 way switch that needed some small repairs, so I take off the pickguard and underneath is a hole about the size of a dime about a half inch deep, and it was done at the factory because ther'e paint in it, but in the hole is a small coin type object, with a depiction of Jesus on one side and Mary on the other. What's up with this? Anyone have a clue? Anyone know why the hole is there? It doesn't seem to have any purpose other that sticking something in there like either the previous owner might have or someone at the factory. Help solve this mystery.

the hole is quite normal. Though no one knows 100% what its for knowledgable people surmise that its to hold the body to the jig during routing. dunno about the pictures either side, id like to see a photo of it though.
