I am considering a new guitar to go with a Frontman 65R amp. I'm probably going to get a fender. They are good quality and price.

What I want to know is would it be better to buy a telecaster standard or a stratocaster standard to go with a 65R? I play mostly rock music.

That's something you really have to figure out on your own. Go play the two and pick the one you like best.

Yeah they're very different guitars. You can start with youtube to see the difference..but the music store, as suggested, is always best.

I voted Strat, but to clarify, its not by much. I was considering getting another Strat, but I think i want to add a Tele to my arsenal more than another Strat right now.

My personal choice would be a Strat, HOWEVER, I do suggest you go out to a music store or two and play as many of each as you can and make your own choice.

Play them both. Repaetedly.

Then go home and think.

If you are considering an American Standard, reconsider an MIM one of each for about the same price.

Yes wind he has it posted on the tele site to lol.Guitarman since I have 3 of each I would say to go with a strat since you style your music is more on the rock side that would be the better choice for you I love my teles as much as my strats but since I am a rock /blues player my teles are suited for my needs .I have a 72 thinline reissue mij which has humbuckers -a 62 reissue that I swapped the pickups with Dimarzio fast tracks which have 3 times the output of regukar single coils and is also my favorite guitar and a cream colored tele that I use for blues. You cant go wrong either way but just go crank one of each up at your local guitar store playing the music your into and make your choice based on your ears. Then what ever you choose next time around get the one you did not /KEEP ON ROCKIN

Jim Root from Slipknot and John 5 of Rob Zombie both play teles, just
listen to Jim Root blister the hide off his tele, in the live london recording of " Disasterpiece " it'll blow your socks off. So buy a tele, there on stage with the hottest rock bands in America.
