That's very odd, but I think I would leave it as its first battle scar. I don't think your chances of doing a matching repair are good unless you take it to a professional

What were you turning the truss with? I don't see how that insert could come out like that without something binding in there

One thing to do is go to your local miami craigslist and in the musicians section, ask! I found a really good local repair shop this way (in San Antonio).

Good luck!

Just curious, were you loosening the truss or tightening?

Ah, you lossened the truss nut too far and it caught on the wood insert and popped it out. I suspected as much. Man, sorry to hear that and see that to such a nice guitar.

As you now know, turn the truss a little at a time. Also, it is not used to set action, you would have been better off raising the saddles or bridge. You can only add as much relief as the strings will pull, after that lossening the truss does nothing, unless you have the bi-flex deal, which it looks like you don't

I think you need to find an authorized dealer with an authorized repair tech. I would worry that you have done more damage to the truss rod, then just that cosmetic damage around the walnut inlay.

Good luck, but get someone qualified to check it out for you.

Not a bad idea, but I doubt it. He can test it by tightening it and seeing if it still performs its function to straighten the neck under the tension of the strings

enter where you are, then I would phone and see if they have an authorized repair center.
