Here's a better shot of the heel too. Certainly a strange join.

The serial number is on the plate apparently, it just hasn't come up well - you can see the 'der' in Fender, so perhaps it's just the light.

I will have to check some catologs I keep thinking some of the HM strats had that heel plate but the bodys had the side jack not the front placement like that it just does not all seem to fit and its not the STRAT logo or the Fender Strat logo but some Japan models, well

I can see the serial# below made in japan right above the heel on the neck but can't read it in the picture though. What is the #?

I wouldnt get too caught up on the serial no' prefix with a japanese guitar. It wasnt only I serials that were usa made for export. The japanese instrument prefix method was devised by the same guy who wrote the necronomicon from what i can gather. A friend of mine had a very nice japanese strat that he tried to sell and got returned as a fake several times. Despite a letter confirming its authenticity from customer services. It went for £150 in the end, new squires cost more than that  . Not sure that the trem is a kahler either. I had one of those system trems on a explorer i built. It had fender stamped behind the microtuners.
I zoomed in 200% and could see part of a old serial no' across the skunkstripe underneath the made in japan. It looks like it says 00.

Curiouser and curiouser

I 'googled' Systems I, II and III - seems these refer to Kahler trems, at least by looking at the listed examples of each, umm, system. This is definitely a Floyd knock off.

Oh well, if this is an imitation i'll still be happy with my $400 purchase. If it is the real deal, i'll be even happier.

Acording to the guitar dater project, your guitar was made at the Fuji - Gen plant for Fender 1988-1989.
