Ok, so Im pretty new to the whole Fender world. I was meaning for ages to buy one but since I was primarily a death metal/black metal player I never actually got around to it. I just got back from Iraq for the 3rd tour (two 1 year and a 15 month one!) and I was just goofing off in the local GC here in Colorado Springs. I happened to pick up a 50s road worn strat and it sounded so great I bought it on the spot even though I thought it was way too steep for a MIM. After that my already busted Marshall practice combo I got for free finally bit the dust (what a blessing!) so I went back down to the GC and found a little miracle called the Super Champ XD. So after all this I started becoming a full blown Fender guy. I bought a Squier CV 50s Strat in white online just from all the ravings about how great they are for the price and I was yet again amazed. I wanted a really nice high end American made Strat to round things out. Something that looks real classy. So I ordered an Eric Johnson Rosewood model from Drumcity Guitarland in Denver. I just got it home and all set up the way I want and OMG I must say it is THE BEST sounding and feeling guitar EVER! I got the palamino metallic color and as soon as I got it back home I replaced the pickguard with a tortoise one. There were some weird things inside there that I wasnt expecting to see. Like rubber bushings made from medical tubing instead of springs on the pickup screws and a weird little metal plate that all the controls mount to under the pickguard. I really love this guitar and with the tortoise pickguard and palamino color and white neck binding this thing just oozes class.

Oh and its really late so Ill try to add some pics tomorrow if I can.

Congrats on your new $@!&*'in guitar. The EJ model is truly a special model and the color you got is just great. As to the surgical tubing instead of springs on the pickup adjusters it has been this way for some time, and the aluminum plate under the controls is a traditional feature of early strat 8 hole pickguards.Enjoy.

The tubing is generally used on the nicer models and the metal piece under the pickguard is a shield to help cut down on noise.

wow i am so in love with these guitars. i have 3 strats and they all sound different. oh i got a warmoth body in seafoam green that i was originally thinking about swapping all the squier parts onto but i just dont know. i love the white so much i think ill just start a new project guitar with the warmoth body. im thinking about doing rosewood on this one with a matching painted headstock. what do you guys think? also maybe binding like the eric johnson? oh and im having trouble on a pickguard decision. i was digging the way the gold pickguard looks on the seafoam but with a maple fretboard. what would go well with the rosewood and painted headstock?

Congrats on becoming a full blown Fender man!!! I used to play Parkers and Gretch's until I decided to buy an American Strat. I just got another American Strat and I too am in love by how every guitar has it's own sound and vibe. I have only 2 now, but I've owned a total of 4....had too sell....needed money

Enjoy and thanks for the service!!!!
