I could respond to this but cant embarrass you more than you just embarrassed yourself with that statement.
BTW I received lots of approval in my formative years. That's why my literacy skills are significantly better than yours.

If you would like a trade I will give you a HWY 1 for the 2008 Amer. Standard in fact I may let you pick between black or blonde?

here's a fine exsample of someone that just
has to point out somthing knock the guitar. show us
proof of that nikininja facts not opinions

Easy to do.

Just go and look at it and compare its finish to a timemachine or vintage hotrod .

they sure are easy to sand thru to the bare wood though.

Sorry I asked! The only reason I asked anyway was since you think the HWY1 is handsdown the better guitar between the two you would be getting the better of the deal. Not Me! A new HWY for a used Amer. Std.

i would be getting the better deal. i'm not impressed with rolled frets or
s-1 switch. i like a good old plain strat's like they were
some years ago. and thats what the highways are
good old plain strats with $@! kicking Alnico III pu's

I am really getting sick of this subject. Every one is stating their opinions as facts. Just take a look in the dictionary. You will find the definition for OPINION - a belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty. And you can see the definition for FACT - a truth known by actual experience or observation; something known to be true.

Thats like me saying: IT'S A FACT THAT RED IS THE BEST COLOR!!!

You may love the Hwy 1 and that's fine, but please stop justifying your opinions by saying they are facts!!!!!

It has been a very long final word has it not "deepindigo" with some interesting statemants made and said to be fact. Kind of like a politician just keep stating it over and over in the hopes that some beleive it to be true.

The worst thing about the argumentative nature of this thread is that no one is disputing that the highway one is a good guitar. Best, well thats debatable and based on opinion.

I got brilliant on my mind!
Your are correct Niki I have heard no one say that it is a bad guitar. It's just that some have argued its merits incorrectly and by doing so it has been argumentive.
If someone said they liked the 9.5 neck on it with the old 70's headstck that would make sense. To say you like the neck because its old school does not because theres nothing old 70's about it other the head stock shape. To say you love the sound of the pickups would make sense but to say you love them because they sound old school would not. Its nothing old school about the pickups or the circut for them.
So some say its old school because it don't have many features but the ones it does in reality are not old school. To me thats the wrong why to try to make a point about the merits of the HWY. Fender sold people on that by just using the old looking head stock and not using its higher end new features nothing else. In reality it was how they were able to make it at a lower cost. Less money labor and parts. Many just go along with the sales pitch and believe. Nature of marketing.
