hey man thanks. i prefer to keep them stock(alnico III PU'S)
its all what you like and enjoy in a pickup.
take care my friend.

Thanks to advise from Forum User cafeathers, I lowered my Bridge pick-up. I have decided with this little change to keep the stock pups for now. In fact I lowered the neck pup as well and could not believe the difference there as well.

Thank you for your advise as well. RK

My final word is that it is an exceptional instrument. Does everything they said it would- ''A no frills workhorse for the working musician''.

Knocking this guitar does nothing except show ignorance as a guitar player. It is a hell of a lot closer to a real Strat's look and tone with it's 6 point bridge and proper single coil alnico pickups than any American Standard with their noiseless pickups and all the other bells and whistles that everyone seems to be so obsessed with.

you are SOOOO CORRECT!!!!! its good to see the
majority here agree with me because its fact not
opinion the highway one sss kicks the american standard
and road worn $@! and its tone superior over both of them
end of story.

Interesting, but how long is this "final word" gonna last? It's been like 6 days since the topic started.

Edit:

Wait, my Am. Standard doesn't have noiseless pickups..what happened to facts only!?!

I've tried many h.o. strats and i haven't came across one that i thought was worth buying. i payed 500$ for a 98 mia std in mint cond. so why pay $900+ for a h.o. unless you like it that much. personally i see the highway 1 being discontinued before to long. they don't even carry them here in eastern iowa anymore they just don't sell. but mia std strats sell like hot cakes here

I'm going to politely disagree. You can't compare a used guitar to a new guitar in terms of prices as new Standards costs 1100 and up. It'd be more fair to say 500 bucks for a used mia to a 300-400 used H.O. I love my H.O. just as much as my American Standard. I love the extra thin finish and the nitro feel of the body, which works well for "accidental" relicing. The jumbo frets and the pickups are the selling point for me. Although it doesn't have the nice rolled edges as the standard, the frets did not stick out and stab my hand. Only reason I can see the Standards selling more is marketing. It's making people believe that the standard costs more, therefore its a better guitar than the H.O. For me, I love them both.

hey alwaysstrat...i think i speak for a lot of people when i say that i'm glad you love your strat, but just because people have different opinions on it doesn't mean it doesn't work for you.

you might hate me for saying this, but i absolutely despise the highway 1 strat personally, because I feel that the electronics are subpar and the neck doesn't play that great. i also don't like the big headstock. but that's just my opinion.

if you gave me a choice between the highway and the mexi standard, i'd grab the highway, sell it on craigslist, buy a nice standard, rewire with cloth, and switch the trem block to callaham. cause for me, i think the standard sounds better.

and to everyone, i'm sorry for the sh*tstorm that this post will cause, haha. i came in peace, i swear.

also i dont realy like the new american standards.
personaly they are way over priced and way overrated. the highway one sss is the close's to a real strat than the american standards.
with that said i'm not going to call it subpar just because i dont like it.
