its all what you like and enjoy in a pickup.
take care my friend.

Thanks for the input. I read another thread and I lowered my P-up height and tomorrow I will see if it helped. If it does I will definately stay with the Alnico III.

Well obviously the guy who wrote the review doesnt agree with your statement that its the most versatile strat ever. He said if you want traditional strat sounds keep looking. If you dont want traditional strat sounds why buy any strat.

My feelings are hurt now alwaysstrat. I thought we were friends and that the conversation was sort of tongue in cheek. Did not mean to alienate you! Have a great weekend my friend! :)

Hey guys, Just wanted to chime in. I love my 06 hwy 1! I don't belive anyone in there right mind could call this a starter guitar. It was marketed by Fender as a no frills workhorse for the working musician. Mine is very resonant, the neck is satin and probably the fastest most comfortable ive ever played. Jumbo frets were dressed with no sharp edges. American pickups, upgraded wireing. The only thing I think that would concern a player about this guitar is the narrower string width at the bridge, but that suits me because I dont have big hands.
As far as the finish, someone earlier in this post said it wasnt all nitro but nitro over thick urethane. I dont think that is correct. You cant put nitro over urethane, that is why when luthiers restore any guitar they have to know what lind of finish is on the guitar because you cant combine them. It may not be the same nitro as on the vintage Strats, or maybe not as thin, but it is still an all nitro finish that is thinner than your standard urethene finish , and that definatly makes a huge difference in resonance.
The best part about mine is I got it for $388. new from Guitar Center! Thanks to the Fender forum, about 2 years ago GC ran a sale that they didn't advertise, and if I hadn't heard about it here, I would have missed out!

BigJay, i want you to know that all I was trying to do was make a joke and in no way was saying anything bad about your kickassocaster! I hope you took it in that vain! I think you did. Have a good one and I'll talk to you later!

I'd just like to add that my comment about the highwayone being beneath me wasnt serious.
They are a good guitar. The most versatile or best playing though. I doubt it. S1 isnt included in its wiring so therefore its beat regards winning a versatile strat contest. Best player is highly individual.
Alwayspratt carry on reading other peoples opinions on how great your guitar is, it obviously makes you feel better about it.
Theirs 2 i saw today used ones £200. The others £350. Much less than their new price despite them being in great nick. A guitar is only worth what it sells for, i could advertise any of mine at a unrealistic price. Would they sell though. Oh and three of them have S1 and much better necks.

I've tried many h.o. strats and i haven't came across one that i thought was worth buying. i payed 500$ for a 98 mia std in mint cond. so why pay $900+ for a h.o. unless you like it that much. personally i see the highway 1 being discontinued before to long. they don't even carry them here in eastern iowa anymore they just don't sell. but mia std strats sell like hot cakes here

I must admit I've not more than skimmed this thread, but by all appearances it looks to be a rather excrutiating discussion. I do love the Highway One instruments personally but all attempts at interjecting actual facts appear to be being met with ridicule. alwaysstrat, please cool it down.

It's obvious that the gentleman who wrote this article know's nothing about guitars like some here. He did not use the fact that it's BRILLIANT or the MOST VERSATILE once. Perhaps He should read the other forums before he writes his reviews that way he will no's what He's talking about. He could have saved the time of getting three guitars and having to play the things.

I respect many on the forum for there opinion and I agree and diagree with some things. to take any of it personal is rediculas. Perhaps some post are just best left alone and passed by.
