The E & A string are still slightly flat on the first two frets of the tele. The D string is sounding sharp in comparison. It may need a little taken off the height.

Adjustments being made tonight.

Did the tele too... Notice its very different to the strat. No doubt due largely to the 3 saddle bridge...

Now that is very interesting.

Remind us, do Earvana sell a different nut for Tele's than for Strats?

One of the few mods I've ever done to a Fender bought new is to put compensated saddles on a Tele. I might be less fussy than you on this stuff, but even I was uncomfortable with Tele intonation.

However, the compensation on those replacement brass Tele saddles seemed overdone to me. The tuning appears almost as bad: it's just that the balance has been reversed.

I suspect a compensated Tele nut would find even more takers than a Strat one...

Ceri i slipped up on the tele. All i did was slap the old earvana on there, shim it up to clear the frets and measure the off sets. I didnt reset the saddle length for the earvana. Anyhow i carved the nut got it on the guitar and its great except fot the A string seems very flat. As you know its not as simple as just making the adjustment at the saddle. It needs thinking about.

Which tele saddles do you use. I used the wilkinson and only had trouble with the B string. A few swipes of the file sorted that out.

Well, I used these ones, which I believe are the Wilkinson model, right?:

Trev normally gets this sort of thing spot on, but as far as my ear and my tuner can tell, the stagger is too much, especially on the middle one. I seem to have to make pretty much the same compromise on the G and D strings as before - just the other way around.

There's the other sort of compensated Tele saddles, the ones that look like the brass piece was threaded onto the screw crooked. I've not tried those yet.

And of course we can always use six seperate saddles like modern American Teles. Just doesn't look like a Tele should, though...

A Ninja Nut would sort out all these issues...

Well i have those exact same saddles on my tele and experience no real problem. Not 100% accurate but a lot better than the standard round barrels. I did find them to be quite soft though, The strings wear into the saddles quite easily. I had a problem with the B to G so flattened the top of that saddles a little. That pushed the break points closer together and improved the situation.

Its a funny problem to sort out acuurately. What needs to happen and where i failed is in balancing the saddle compensation to the nut compensation. I rushed and wasnt carefull enough over the saddle settings to the offsets on the nut. I took too much off the nut at the A string causing it to sound flat up to the 3rd fret. It sorts itself out after that and the guitar is great up the top end.
