I hope this is not to stupid a question and I'm looking for advice, but if my guitar has a 9.5" radius on the neck, should the strings at the bridge have a similar diameter radius?

You should adjust the bridge saddles so that the bottoms of the strings (the side nearest the fretboard) follow the curve of the fretboard.

I'm trying to think how you measure that. Here's what I do on my 6-strings. Assume the guitar is in-tune, the tremolo back's height is evenly about 1/8th inch off the body, and the neck truss rod is properly set (see the owner's manual).

Now I measure the string height at the 17th fret. Factory specs say 5/64ths inches for strings 1-4; 3/32nds inches for strings 5-6. Measure from the top of the fret to the bottom of the string. Tolerance is 1/64th inches.

Adjust the saddles of errant strings up or down accordingly. Re-tune and measure again.

I set my sixth string bridge saddle to the recommended 4/16" of an inch, then use the proper neck radius gauge (in my case 9.5 in) to set the rest of the strings. It's easier than using a ruler.

Thanks for the replies.

One question, when using the neck radius gauge whereabouts do you check? Should the radius be the same all over, IE at the nut and at the bridge?
