Hello everyone,

I'm in the process of buying a Fender Stratocaster with a floyd rose. The owner says that it is all original and that the floyd rose is a licensed version. My memory isn't too good, but I was planning on buying one a few years ago and I remembered they came with ORIGINAL floyd roses. If I'm wrong I'm hoping someone can correct me or at least show me a pic of one.

Another thing too. Has fender stopped selling these kind of guitars? I've looked on the website and at GC and MF. No one seems to have them. OMG! Save the Fender Floyds!

Original Floyds are superior because they are case hardened. This means better tone, sustain, and durability. I have even seen some cheap copies that did not double lock, in particular, they only locked at the nut not the bridge.

I have had my ESP kh-2 since 1995 and the floyd is perfect still. It needs some lube, but that is it. I can take my ESP out of its casse after not playing it for months, and it will still be in tune, maybe a fine tune occassionally. They are hard to get right if you take all the strings off the guitar, but if you do one string at a time when changing its easy. If you strtch you strings real good before locking them down at the nut, it will stay in tune until the strings are done with only minor fine tuning needed.

I would look around and talk more to real people sellers. Although I've shopped online from MF, Music 123, and American Musical Supply, sometimes their descriptions are BS. They have been advertising certain Fender Custom Shop pickups as Ybarra wound, sold as regular price. Anybody who has a custom shop guitar with Ybarra hand wound pickups could tell you that they cost a lot more than standard pickup price. Plenty of stuff like that going on with these big online sellers.

If it was only two weeks old, then it would be covered by Fender warantee. Did your dad send it back?

Thanks for the help. Whenever I look for them on GC or MF I always type Fender Floyd Rose and I never find it. I should have typed Fender HSS FR. Another thing.

It depends what model. Some came with OFR's, some with Floyd Lic. Kahlers. I believe the MIM Floyd Strats came with a Lic. Floyd.

My weiner tingles when I watch Def Comedy Jam, Soul Train, or Night at the Apollo....

Seriously though, I just won that Fender from eBay and it should be here next week. Hopefully that licensed floyd isn't a piece of crap.

*prays*

I got it for 395.00! Talk about a deal. I've been watching that item since last Friday!

Soowooo!!!!

My MIM Fat Strat has a FR made by PING. It has a large brass tone block and is arguably better than the original.

I couldn't be happier with mine.
