long story short.

bought a wv6sb assembly (wilkinson vintage 5+1 steel block)

couldn't use claw and claw screws

the top plate barely fit (had to tighten in series)

messed up tuning and broke a string.

bought a new set of strings only to find fret buzz on the 3rd string.after properly tuning.

fml.

l&m rescue my guitar

Big Jay has it. are the frets perfectly level? Use a stainless steel straightedge and go along the neck at each fret.

Worst case, a hot tech can fix it in a jiffy or maybe a jiffy and a half.

Sounds like your problems are significantly worse than some misaligned trem-parts, a broken string and fret-buzz, but.....

If the new trem-block doesnt fit, remove it and replace it with one that does fit.

If you broke a string messing with the tuning/trem-spring balance, you need to slow down and make smaller adjustments. You seem to be rushing and could continue to cause damage to your guitar.

Fret buzz doesnt have anything to do with your trem/block and tuning. However, you might not be hearing fret buzz. If you didnt hear that buzz before you messed everything up, then its its more likley the buzz is coming from something you changed or messed with.....the new trem/block for example. Or if you have fret buzz, when you didnt before, you may have screwed up your action by changing the bridge configuration relative to the face of the body. If the back edge of the bridge is not closer to the body, you likely lowered your action. In this case, losen up the trem-springs a little and retune.

The back edge of the bridge should be about 1/8th inch off the face of the body and the bridge should set essentialy flat to the plane of the body.

i got too excited with the first set of strings, i must admit.

there was no fret buzz before but i tried raising the string height of that one string all the way i could, but it still buzzed, only with an open string though.

i'm gonna go to long and mcquade to see what they have to say :(

If the buzz is on the open string only, then the nut slot could be too deep. Don't know why you didn't hear it before you changed your trem though.

Is the string that is buzzing now the same string that broke? I am thinking if you did something that caused the strings to pull tight enough to break one, you may have dug into the nut with the excessive tension on the strings. Try this, take a small piece of Aluminum foil and set it in the nut slot to bring the string up a bit. Cut off any excess foil that comes out of the nut slot. If raising the string at the nut works, the nut is the problem
