I picked up a Fender Strat neck with a neck stamp of EST-557F & a serial number on the headstock of E 820319. Can anyone tell me when this was made & if it is an American made nack? Thanks.

Niki's request is valid because the way the date was recorded varied throughout the history of the Stratocaster, but generally it will be written or stamped on either the heel where the neck fits into the body, or underneath the neck plate.

Welcome to the Forum.

According to The Guitar Dater Project it could be:

Your guitar was made at the
Corona Plant (Fender), USA
in the Year(s): 1988 - 1989

OR

Your guitar was made at the
Fuji-gen Plant (for Fender Japan), Japan
in the Year(s): 1984 - 1987

Are there no other markings such as: Made in USA or Made in Japan anywhere on the neck?

Pictures would help.

I have a Japanese strat: E554319, 70s style big headstock, rosewood fretboard, 'D' -shape neck. Gotoh style tuners.

I bought it new in '84 or '85, I forget which.

I had 'made in Japan' in small letters on the underside of the neck right next to the heel, such that the words were just visible. in front of the neck pocket on the back of the neck, with the neck 'in situ'.

That mark is not there now, because being young and silly at the time, I didn't want people to know it was Japanese made so I scraped the mark off!
