I was told at GC that the electron blue color was discontinued 11/08 in conjunction with the new '09 arivals,...is there any history on a specific color in terms of run numbers when and why discontinued, and is it true that it is a discontinued color

I was told the same thing by a customer service rep at Fender about a month ago. Not that it's a rare color or anything, but I am glad I have one.

I am glad as well. Mine was the last one they had of the'08's. I actually called the GC manager and asked him what he had in his used stock and offered me a white one but then it was already on layaway so he said "Oh wait I have this sick looking Brand New Electron Blue MIM HSS Strat" I bought it that night with a raven 20w amp.......sweet

They can't keep every color forever. They change them every so often just like cars. No big conspiracy or huge plan around that. I'm guessing they'll just take what sold the least and discontinue it, to make way for new colors.

Guitars would be boring if they all had only the exact same colors and features as the original ones did in the 50's.

The MIM Strat that I bought lsat year is Electron Blue. Not a bad color for sure.

I just bought a new Electron Blue MIM Strat from AmericanMusic.com. They were the only place I could find that still had them in stock. It'll be here on Wed. :D

Lake Placid Blue replaced Electron Blue, which I think had replaced Daphne Blue from the previous year ('07)...but I could be wrong about that last part. My '08 Electron Blue/rosewood MIM Strat is going to be converted to HH, with a wired EMG pickguard (white pearl) that I bought for $25.00 today. I'll be using Fender Atomic Humbucker pickups (same used in the Toronados), and I'll be replacing the cheesy looking black knobs with black Strat knobs. Since MIM Strats come stock with a white pickguard, back plate, and tremolo and stitch tips, I'll also have to change those as appropriate, except for the switch tip which is already black.

When I get the HH conversion done, I'll have something to use for rhythm behind the lead of either my So Cal Speed Shop Strat, or FSR Straight Six Strat.

Matt
