Hello! I am changing the pickups on my strat, and I can't decide between the fender 57/62's and the fender 69's. Do any of you have any advice?

I haven't had a lot of experience with the 57/62's. I have played around with the 69's for a bit and enjoyed the sound. I was shopping for pickups several months ago and almost purchased the 69's. I checked out Fenders, Lollars, Fralins and some others but instead I settled on some Copperhead 1959's. They are handwound by a fellow in Canada based on the Fender pups of that time. He has '54s,'59s,'62s,&'67s. Really nice guy. Very quick answering any questions and will wind pickups to your own specs if thats what you want. And if you don't like them you can return them within 30 days, even if you cut the leads (unlike some of the other pickup maker's warranties). Copperhead also has a five year warranty against defective products. This guy is relatively new but there are a few reviews on Harmony Central and his page. Anyway, I'm sounding like a salesman here. Just do some research, play some guitars with different pickups, checkout YouTube Videos demoing different pups and maybe you'll really like something. Or maybe you will just decide to keep the stock pups. Some people change the pups in their guitar as soon as they get it for some reason. I say give the stocks a chance and if you end up not liking them then do some research and find something you will be happy with. I had my stocks for 11 years and then decided to change out my pups more to inspire me and get me out of a rut and play more. It definitely worked. Plus I'm in love with these pups. I recently bought a set of '62s from him, and put them in my Strat copy. They sound incredible.

I do like the 57/62's, but I have to say, I'm still in love with the area 58/61's I put on some time ago. They dont have quite the authenticity in tone the Fender custom shops do, but they have a great tone, and the trade off for the hum cancellation was worth it IMO>
