hi there,

name's Patrick from Downunder (Auckland NZ to be precise), recently got a black MIM (birthday prez from my lovely wife) and I love it.

Was in a band many years back (played mostly punk covers and some originals, that's how long ago it was), had an Ibanez Precision copy at the time. Drifted outta playing as kids/job/house etc took over, always had an acoustic around but hardly touched it.

Now I'm gettin' old (wrong side of 50) and picking up a guitar again is fantastic. pretty much starting over, learning scales again and lots of other stuff I've forgotten. Like a lot of people at the moment work is hard to get so getting gear is going to take some time. was given a 10w Samick practice amp by a friend which is a bit stuffed but i can get some kind of sound out of it, especially with this Marshall Jackhammer box I bought off the same guy. got a bit of time on my hands so playing every day is a good focus.

anyway i can see there's a lot of knowledge and experience on this forum and looking forward to learning from you guys.

Mr Bannery. From one old punk to another, welcome to the forum. What covers did you used to play. My favourites were the dee dee ramone number 'chinese b@@ch' and the uk subs 'warhead'.

Gotta love that 3chord punk stuff. I'm off to dig my records out.

hey thanks nikininja and everyone else for the welcomes, this is one friendly forum! we covered anything which we liked from the UK punk bands of the day, to be honest i don't remember which songs exactly, though we did do a punked up version of "mrs brown you've got a lovely daughter" (seriously).

like you say, sometimes 3 chords is all you need.

Mr. Bannery... Welcome. I don't suppose you could've done a punk cover of "There's a kind of hush all over the world tonight" You and I are both on the wrong side of 50 to remember those songs.

welcome. seems to be a few of us that played some punk here. one of my old bands played a ton of punk gigs. was kind of funny, cus I had typical rock guy long hair(no mullet,) and everyone else had mohawks and spikes.
