Hey All......There is a great book I found today called... The Fender Stratocaster Handbook that gives you everything on how to maintain, set-up, troubleshoot, and mod a strat....ANY STRAT....and...YOUR strat..by Paul Balmer....great book, I HIGHLY advise if you wish NOT to pay the guitar tech lots of $$$. it's about 200 pages long...hardcover...It also has stories on all of claptons favorite axes including detailed info on "blackie", the beatles, hendricks, knopfler, beck, vaughn, holly. Vintage, AMSTD, MIM, MII, squier, EC custom shop, etc...great book....

Thanks, Trauma. That book is on my Amazon wish list, but it's nice to hear a personal review. I'm planning a little Stratocaster surgery soon, so I think I'll go ahead and pick it up! 8)

I picked mine up from the music section of Barnes & Noble. Also another GREAT read that just came out is called "Totally Guitar:The definitive Guide" which is a 608 page monster with 2,000 photos, 1,000 playing tips, over 250 chord diagrams and the history on over 100 guitar companies, Amps, playing styles from blues to reggae, with 40 pages reserved for Fender guitar history as well as every guitar you can imagine, maintenance, set up, etc......really great books.

I don't have a Strat (yet), but I took this out of my local library--and it was an interesting and fun read--If I ever get a Strat I will also pick up my own copy of the book.

In the meantime Dan Erlewine's Guitar Player Repair Guide 3rd Edition is a great book as well--with references to Strats and other guitars--it even comes with a DVD. (That one I have and have used.)

I ordered a copy of this book a couple of days ago. Heard nothing but good about it and I am so into working on my Strats right now.

Also, my wife got me the Stratocaster Chronicals book for Christmas - it's a great book about the Stratocaster that I would highly recommend!

+1 for TSC! my all time favorite Strat/Fender book. I am looking forward to the new book on the Fender Custom Shop, which ME reported in the AME section of the forum.
