Holy crap, I have the same exact Mustang, same color and all. That very dark purple. Mine's a 76, what's yours? It is all original as well? I'm missing the whammy bar but I ordered a new one, will have to change the tip to black. Had a hard time finding the screw for the bar which was also missing.

I dont think there would be a problem, but I wouldnt make a habit out of looking what shops do for tips on how to do something at home. The only reason they hang them on the wall is that if you put them all on floor stands, it would take up the whole store.

The Mustang is a 78 - dark brown - all original. I was missing the trem bar too but I bought one on ebay with the black tip for about $10. Great guitar - shorter scale makes it feel like a totally different guitar, and 30 year old wood and pickups give it a nice growl.

Thanks David, I thought I was dreaming things! Have you ever seen a manual like that Chet? I've never got one with all the guitars I've bought!

See what it says about nitro having a reaction with certain substances.

Thanks!!!! Very interesting reading there.

I have the string swing and it works pretty good. As far as marring the finish most guitar hangers are pretty safe. But if you happen to have a ceiling fan in the room or something, this may make the guitar gently rock back and forth. This rocking back and forth will create friction where the guitar meets the hanger. This will end up marring the finish no matter how safe the guitar hanger is supposed to be. Friction wears on things, its just physics.

Both my guitars hang by the neck on the wall. Keeps them from accidently being tipped over in the floor stand. I only use it when I am playing and need to set my guitar down for a moment. Since I started hanging them on the wall, I do not have to tune nearly as often as when I had them in their cases for storage.

Been hanging my guitars fro 2 years now and I have not noticed any problems yet.

A couple of mine are on wall hangers with no ill effect. My only suggestion is to stick a piece of foam (or similar cushioning material) to the wall behind the body. That way if an earthquake or errant bump occurs, the guitar body won't bang into the wall.

Yeah I can see how earthquakes wouldn't be a major concern in NE. How about clumsy friends (I've had a couple). My son hangs his basses on the wall and they have been fine too.

You will have no problems with most all guitars. The only ones that with time are nitro finished guitars that eventually have a chemical reaction with rubber, plastic ,some foams, etc.
See the thread in the Ask Mike Eldred forum about nitro finished guitar.
