Would there be any downfalls to putting an SSS set up in my HSS body?

Fender produces a generic routing for its production guitar line to accept the variety of pickup combinations it is offering.

When it comes to dead on period guitars and the routing for same is when you want to feel sure you're getting the real deal.

I think most newer strats have the "swimming pool" cavity, which is just one big cavity under the pickguard, as opposed to 3 seperate cavitys where the pickups are. So it's just a matter of changing out the pickguard. I perfer the 2 humbucker setup myself.

Negative. That routing is history.
