I had my fender malmsteen for a while before i engaged in intense practice again, and the YJM Is a bloody demon! You can put008s on it cause it's scalloped, but it plays unreal. You play fast but you bend and vibrate.....cause it seems natural. If you don't try it you are stupid. A $@!& guitar makes u play like $@!&. I've got 20 years. Listen to me.

Yeah OK I'm listening. I'd like to hear what you think makes them good. I thought it was a weak setup when i tried one. Leave the scallops to the people that make fast guitars. Leave tone to the people that make instruments was my general feeling whilst playing it.
If i type %^()(*%£"))*^$$ does that mean I'll be heeded? Scalloped necks aren't for everyone. Indeed wangway only copied Blackmore.

Glad you like yours though.

I never played a scalloped neck. I don,t see the point of it. I don,t like YJM he has no feeling. However Blackmore is great and one of the reason I began playing guitar in the 70s.

I'd try one if I could get my hands on it. ..if you don't bring yours to me to try out, YOU"RE stupid!

..

Anyway, I would much rather have the American Vintage 62 Hot Rod in the Sheerwood Green color, than the Malmsteen.

or the much more interesting guitarists sig strat - Dave Murray!

Scalloped necks are not for everyone. I never liked them. Trust me I have 20 + years experience too. I am glad you like yours. Keep rock'in.

The beauty of the scalloped neck is it allows you to really grab the string securely and bend it with greater control than otherwise possible. Vibrato is just fantastic with a scalloped neck.

But it has nothing to do with allowing you to play fast. Even Yngwie himself said that. It's really about grabbing a note and controlling it.

I love them but I have more respect for others than the original poster who I have already determined is a few tacos short of a full plate.

Dude.........setup is sooooo important. I have never bought a guitar without setting it up......ever. I spent 2 hours on the the yngwie, cause stores are really bad. Mine plays so good... you'd be sick.

How about a 1959 LP Gold Top?

Hi BigJay: no, he's asking what makes you have a XXX, not what makes you XXXX.

I have no idea what any of that means, but I did try a Malmsteen guitar once a long time ago, so at least I can't be stupid...

Obviously My mistake, Ceri. I stand corrected.

Suddenly wondering if this is one of those (many) moments where the tonal intent ( ) of our writing fails to carry across the ether. It's clear I was being utterly frivolous - is it?

Not out to correct anyone - since I truly don't know what XXX stood for...

The pickups?
