Just like to say thanks to everyone on here who gave me advice on taking a YJM strat with, less just say, a 'sub-optimum' neck on it back to the supplier.

I am now the proud owner of an, essentailly, new YJM with really good neck on it!!

Thanks Ceri, Nikininja, et al!

Wheyhey.

Way to go mate. Glad you got it sorted. Was it twisted? did you tell by sighting the fret markers as being not straight?

Really chuffed you got it sorted. Enjoy that guitar mate.

I was not able to tell by that method, becasue at the time you suggested it, it was already back at the shop. Apparently it went to Fender at East Grinstead, who said whilst the neck was not twisted, but there was slight variation in profile from one side of the neck to the other, within tolerances, but enough to prevent a low action being set. Sounds like a slight twist to me! Or this is what the propriator told me anyhow.

Anyhow the new one has a neck made form nice straight grained wood, flat sawn from the timber, so that the growth rings feather-out straight down the middle of the back of the neck, so not only is it fine now, but it should stay that way!
