Hello folks,

I recently acquired a new American Deluxe Ash in aged cherry burst and I'm looking into replacing all the chrome hardware with gold. The only sticky wicket now is the tuners. As far as I can tell, Fender does not offer a set of gold locking staggered tuners. I have no issue with replacing them with the Schaller version of the tuners but I'm unclear as to whether the Fender/Schaller and Schallers both have the single pin on the back of each tuners.

BTW, I have searched the boards here but to no avail.

Thank you in advance.

I replaced ALL the crappy Ping tuners on my Highway Ones with Fender/Schallers and they indeed DID have 2 pins on the back of the tuners.

I haven't used or seen an actual non Fender/Schaller Schaller tuner either? .Sorry!

I know it's none of my business but I have one just like yours, color and all, and I would never do that. It's your decision though. Good luck my friend! :)
BTW the gold hardware will pit on you a lot faster than the chrome!

Welcome to the forum!!

That's a heck of a welcome. but I don't see the point in your comment.

Regarding pitting/corrosion of gold hardware compared to chrome or black, I'm familiar with the possible issues with it but there are factors to consider:
1) The quality of the plating.
2) The acidity of the oils in my skin and perspiration.
3) How often I play the guitar.

I can't speak for #1 but I do plan on buying all genuine Fender parts. I've got gold hardware on my Les Paul and one of my Charvels, both of which are holding up fine. I also don't gig so I'm not worried about working up a sweat while playing it. Finally, I've got other guitars and I spend time playing all of them.

Sorry, if I offended you! Like I said "Welcome to the forum!" What else do you want me to say so I'll sound nicer to you? Oh well! I made it clear it was your decision and only gave my opinion but will refrain from doing it again! :?
Oh. BTW you would be surprised by the quality/number of instruments I own myself!

You really didn't offend. I'm just looking for info on the tuners rather than opinions on whether I should make the hardware change or not, that's all. Like I said, it's something I'm looking into at this point and I'm not going to do it unless I'm 100% sure I want to do.

Thank you. I have seen the Sperzels but I have don't like the finish (brushed) on their gold tuners.
