Post subject: file a nut with sandpaper?

all i have is sandpaper and i need to widen the slot a little bit for b and e, is it a good idea?

When i clean mine i run some 1200grit through it. Thats plenty to stop strings binding. Why do you need to widen the slot? There ok up to 11's or 12's usually.

I guess you can do it with it but be very carefull not to ruin it :)
