None of Fenders modern production guitars are going to be classic's for a long time to come and none are going to go up any 20% in value for no reason. I would hate to see the 57" go away and the Vaughan has been around now for like 10 years I think and seems to be holding its own. I do like the soft V neck on the Vaughan an to me it much faster then the HWY1 because I don't like those JUMBO! frets on the plain Modern c neck it would feel better to me with the medium jumbo. The finish on the necks of both the HWY and the Vaughan are Satin Urethane even the Amer. Stnd. has that type of finish on the back but they do the extra work to gloss the head stock.
Well it's hard to compare the Vaughan to the HWY1 they are very little alike to even compare. In fact there is nothing the same about them.

Its a rare occurance for fender to nitro a neck. Certainly not on the sub £1k guitars.

I know how a guitar is finished and preped , and I no a guitar does not breath. It all about the thickness. And tell me why a HWY1 you paid 750. for could possibley be worth 1300. when Fender makes so many other guitars of the same years that are arguably better that have shown no such increase in value. Then HIGHWAYPLAYER talks about the how much faster the neck is on the HWY1 and says its because of the finish well like I said its just a modern C finished like others with BIG JUMBO frets which to most slow playabilty but help with bending. These things are just logical which is just how I tend to look at things not allways popular to some because emotions don't come into it like many. The Wife says a delve into things to deeply but I feel you can never no to much about anything otherwise you get board. Even when I was a yougster I would drive Teachers nuts in boring classes.

All fender mass produced necks are urethane finished arent they. I thought nitro necks were reseved for the time machine series and masterbuilt.

Yes CV but the HO is a urethane finished neck.
http://www.fender.com/products//view_specs.php?full_partno=0111160&name=Highway+One%26trade%3B+Stratocaster%26reg%3B+%28Upgrade%29

Doesnt that part need to breathe?

CV whats your take on the Nitro finish of the HO? I personaly think its light spray over urethane. Much like was mentioned in the great vintage reissue controversy. Maybe to help dull the gloss a little.

Kind of like Fullerplast in the old day (Breath Deep  ), I would be willing to bet there is a polyester filler on the UV coating under there.

popularity of opinion doesnt necessarily mean anything regarding quality. Especially on websites. Look at your typical guitar magazine (a lot more a credible source than some website) even they are full of misinformation biased towards advertizers.
