You might want to take the neck shapes into account. The highway 1 has I C shaped neck like most strats (I think) and the JV has a V shaped neck. To me I think the V neck feels awesome, but it's one of those half the people love it, half hate it type thing. I like the Tex Mex pickups on the JV better than the highway 1 pickups, but that's just my taste. The highway 1 pickups aren't bad at all. The highway 1 also has jumbo frets, the JV has medium jumbo. To me jumbo frets feel best, but I use heavy strings. And finally, the finish is very different. the highway 1 has a nitro finish, so it's going to relic over time. The JV probably won't. If I were you I'd go to harmony-central.com and read the reviews they have there for both guitars. And also search for both of them on youtube, there should be tons of audio clips and reviews on there.

Yeah I'd go with the Highway One. Especially if you are looking for high gain. You can get a lot of tones out of the Highway One. They are very versatile.

I'm just relying on a knowledgeable forum member (alwaysstrat) that owns 5 or 6 of them. So they have to be real good! A Lot of our members have stated their fine qualities! :) 8)

+1 to my fellow Texan soul brothah above -- I am very fond of Tex Mex pups and the poly finish of the JV, along with the neck. That all being said, Hwy 1's are seriously cool guitars. But between the two, I'd grab the JV, though ...

I'm also a fan of the Jimmie Vaughan. I was at Guitar Center testing Road Worn Strats when they were first released, stumbled across a JV and ended up taking it home. I liked the Tex-Mex pickups, soft V neck and maple fretboard and the vintage hardware... it sounded and felt great.

A Highway One might be better for high gain but the Tex-Mex pickups in the JV are good for Texas Blues and all the vintage Strat tones are still there. I find it a perfect complement to my '08 American Standard.

The Hwy One has a horrid cosmetic attributes. Pale bleached headstock, ugly tuners and a satin finish. Still Mexican made. I think the Road Worn would be cooler.
