Hello, I am trying to decide between a MIM Standard Strat, or a Deluxe Player Strat. Is there much difference between the two? I understand the pickups are American Made on the DLX, but is it that much better. I play mostly blues, and a little rock. Also, do you think either of these guitars would play well on a Hot Rod Deluxe? If anyone would like to tell me about their experience with either, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Between those two, and having to make a decision this second ... I'd take the Std. I am not a big fan of gold hardware so that would kill it for me right there for the Deluxe. I am also on the fence on the VN pups as I have heard good and bad things about them. That Sapphire Blue finish is spectacular, though.

But if I was going Deluxe, I would grab a Deluxe Roadhouse instead and not look back. Whether in sunburst, or an artic white (and - on my own - add a lime green pickguard and aged knobs). Without a doubt...
