Ceri...do you think one should assume a fret dress is normally included in a set up? Would you normally expect fret polishing, etc, with a set up for that base price?

I truly don't know. Only fretwork I've ever had done was a full refret - by the aforementioned gentleman. The handful of setups he did for me didn't include fretwork - well, as far as I was aware...

As mentioned above, I put in a call to him recently to check his charges for another Forum user and that was how he detailed his current services to me.

Been out the loop commercial setupwise for quite a while, now. For the reason Niki indicated, it would seem reasonable if the price were lower if no fretwork were required, wouldn't it? But that wasn't what I was told.

Cvilleira does regular setup work: he'll tell us for sure.

Ceri, if biscuits are cookies then what are American biscuits called?

Gosh, well you have me there. I sometimes fancy myself almost bilingual, but I'm ashamed to admit I can't remember what the word biscuit means in America. Something hard and brittle, would that be it?

Advice please.

Cheers - C

Sorry to interfere here but Ceri a biscuit to us is similar to your scones I guess. Generally served at breakfast. A link to pic.

Well bless my socks! I'd have never guessed that.

Then, Hop, you've answered your own question - and taught us over this side something into the bargain! Thank you very much.

Now. Would you pronounce that scone to rhyme with tone, or scone to rhyme with shone? My part of the world we can argue late into the night on that point (we have no lives)...

Cheers - C

Up here in Meeeeeenaasoooootaaaaaaaa we have "cookies" and "crackers". No scones. If we did, it would be pronounced "skoooooaaaaannnnnns"

Some people like to eat rotted fish, also. But that is a different topic.

If you have a "Starbucks Coffee" then you have Scones. Starbucks has some very good Scones.

Hey, I hope the OP, Mr edengrillz, feels he got an answer to his question on the first page. Cos I think his chances are pretty slim from here on in!

Well, you don't hear me apologising, do you? If edengrillz hasn't worked out how things go round here yet - then this is a steep learning curve, I guess... [sound of Ceri giggling happily]

We do go off on absolutely surreal tangents dont we. How come Bigjays crackers weren't censored but my crackers (up until now)were.
Are his crackers somehow more attractive than mine?

[quote="BigJay"]As with most goods and services, in general, you get what you pay for with tech and luthiers.

Depending on the tech/luthier, a setup shouldnt cost very much....$75, $100, $200.

$200? That seems incredibly high. When I use to pay for set ups, it was $50, and that was done by someone who's authorized by fender to do custom shop repairs.

Well now, the first time are you sure you typed crackers or knackers?

And how are we going to explain what that means across the pond without getting spanked by the filtering software?
