Post subject: clicking/poping at nut

there is a poping/clicking noise coming from my nut when i bend the the high e and b. i have no idea what it may be should i get a new nut?

Actually you should get an old nut... Just kidding, but seriously, all you need to do is file the slots a little bit and add some graphite to keep things smooth. The popping sound is the result of the string binding up in the when it is stretched and then releasing.

Oh yeah- my string tree used to have a sharp edge. it would make that noise and slowly grind bits of string away, but I fixed it! :D

cwp. is correct this is the result of a poorly cut nut His suggestion on how to fix is also correct. The side of the nut slot are grabing the string until there is enough tension in the bend for it to pop free.

I use 3 in 1 oil with great results as well... :)
