Not really a strat question. Does anyone else use musical instruments/gear as furniture? just a general wondering.

I live in an extremely small apartment in Koln for about 1/2 the year. The only amp I have there is a halfstack. The apartment is so small that I don't have room for an endtable in my living room. So my amp cab serves a dual purpose, and I have a lamp and some other small items on it. I keep the amp head on the other side of the room, next to the couch, where it works wonderfully to hold the remotes and my drinks. My friends always laugh at me, but hell, I had to haul the amp up 3 flights of stairs, so I'm getting all the use out of it that I can.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

No, But I have some some custom made wood amp cabinets that my wife wanted to put doilies on and use as furniture.

A support band using our gear put their drinks on my amp. I walked onto stage mid song and threw the drinks. The bassist did it next song, i took the amp offstage.

I sometimes use my blues jr as a seat.

Yeah, my amp head is kept in a box with my rack effects off to the side of the stage during performances. So the option to store drinks on it during performances is not there. I always make support acts use their own gear too. I just don't like other people using my stuff.

I dont mind other people using my stuff. On the mid sized stage circuit in the uk its quite commonplace.
I just expect em to treat my stuff with the same respect that i'd treat theres.
There was a time when someone else kicked my amp, that put me off lending it for a couple of months. I started thinking about how i struggled as a kid and soon caved in. The people who helped always stuck to my memory, i'd like to be remembered like that.

My Marshall half stack serves as a nice shelf and a partition wall to go in front of my bed which is also a; couch/living room/office/kitchen table.

Not only would that invite gear disaster, but it just makes for a nice, clean tax return if I only use my gear for business purposes.
