I just un-boxed my new american standard and plugged it in and played around on it, it sounded good but it sounded like it was lacking a little tone but I understand it takes time to break it a guitar, but the thing that worries me the most is the guitar shocked me twice on my inner arm when it was above the pickups. Am I worrying over nothing or should I have someone look at my guitar for me?

Taxman, I would definitely take it back. That is not normal, and it could be dangerous.

There is a serious issue with it. Either return it or have it checked out by an Authorized Fender Tech.

Make sure you have an 'earth leakage circuit breaker' between your amp power lead and the wall socket, that way, whatever happens you're safe!

They look like a small adapter, 'male' side plugs into the wall socket. 'female' side receives your amp plug. They normally have a little 'reset' button on them; avaiable from any hardware shop/store for a couple of £/$.

Ground problem. I don't think you have to worry about yourhair sticking up frying off though unless you playing through an amp from the early 60's or 50's the ones with unpolarized cords, retifier tubes and wax caps. Then you could say OUCH!!!!

I noticed the same thing with my deluxe through an old old amp, nothing bad like a tickle on the arm hairs. My customshop didnt do it though and their wired exactly the same. Neither do it through any of my other amps.

All i can guess is that something in that amp doesnt like the notouriously dirty electricity in my kitchen.

Ignore everyone who suggests it might not be a big deal. take both amp and guitar to be checked out by a qualified technician. People have died from electrical shock from guitars. Even if it turns out to be nothing serious, it is worth it to know for sure that it is safe.

This can not possibly be caused by anything in the guitar.
