Even if you were they'd have a great soundsystem so you wouldnt need to whack the marshall up. Personaly if your not happy with it get it checked. Marshalls from the 70's to mid 90's are near indestructable but theres always a chance a hard gigged amp has developed a fault. If its ok get a power attenuator. The marshall powerbrake will lower the volume to about 25watts which still isnt that quiet but will allow more drive from the power section and should thicken the tone.

The Jimmie Vaughn Strat arrived today. I was a little worried since it's Mexican and my last Mexican body that I had from Reliable Fender sounded bad. But I plugged it into my POD and played for about 30 minutes.

Wow. Sounds damn good. Very punchy tone with some growl. Must be those Tex Mex pickups in there. It appears that the craftsmanship is pretty darn good also. The fret edges feel super smooth. Not rough at all. They gave the guitar a steel block instead of a zinc one. Nice touch. I did notice though that the string tree looks like it's missing it's spacer so it sits real close to the headstock instead of standing up. Very nice looking paint job. U.S. made components and hardware too so it's practically an American when you think about it.

Overall I'm happy with it. I'm gonna perform a few mods on it to bring it up to my personal specs.

I'd recommend this particular model to anyone.

The string tree on my JV sits close to the neck. I think that's the way it was designed.
