I had my american deluxe strat blocked for a while and decided to make it floating again and im having a hard time figuring out what to do with the 2 pivot screws, i know it says hold the bar back and make it flush but i still seem to get a lot of tension in the arm, do the springs in the back make a difference when doing that? any help is greatly appreciated.

U should release some tension in the claw by releasing the screws a little bit till your tremolo floats at about 1/8

The pivot post are just that ( the fulcrum point to pivot on). Adjustments are not made at the pivot post. The claw, as mentioned above, is the piece that you will find under the back plate that the tremelo springs are attatched to. A floating bridge is a balance of string tension vs spring tension. Tightening the claw srews lowers the bridge towards the body and loosening the raises the bridge from the body. The number of springs used and also if the spring are straight or installed at an angle also affect trem tension and force required to move trem arm. Diffrent string gauges also effect string tension. Hope this helps you to understand a little bit about the balance and relationship between strings and springs.
