The 50's reissue is probably sonic blue. Much more intense of a color.

My 2003 Fender Classic 50s Strat is Daphne blue, and not Sonic Blue. maybe the Hwy 1 is lighter because it is a see-thru nitro finish and not as thick as the MIM 50s Strat which is polyurethane I believe

Someone on this site has 6 highway 1's and needs the Daphne blue to add to his collection. I have the 3 tone and think about giving it a light sanding, a primer coat and painting it Daphne blue.

That's right. Daphne is a much greener blue than Sonic Blue. When I came across the Strat in my avatar (left) on this website I discovered it is actually Surf Green, not Daphne as I'd assumed. (It's a US '57 RI, if you want to check...) That's how close those colors can look.

Though both Sonic and Daphne Blue have been seen in surprisingly different shades over the years. One Daphne is not the same as another...

BTW: not sure, but from foggy memory wasn't the Highway One finished in Sonic, not Daphne? Can easily be wrong on that, though.

Cheers - C

Quite true, Ceri -- especially so if the finish is nitro and the instrument has been exposed to the usual elements.

'Zactly. And let's not even get started on all the different colors that have been called Fiesta Red over the decades!

Cheers - C
