Many times in the past, the smart members of this forum posted that the tone quality comes from your hands firs and then it is the guitar and amp, etc. Over the weekend I had a chance to try a custom shop 1960 NOS strat (custom wounf pups and all). Friend of mine is a pro player and this little puppy has set him back around $4k (canadian).

To make a long story short here is me with my AmStd (approx $1k), Squire 50s Vibe (approx $300) and this CS 1960 (approx $4k) doing the A, B, C test plugged in the same Fender deluxe amp. So I was bluesing, bending, spilling emotions.... :P and...

Guess what other than some minor tonal differences I still sound like me @#%^&. I thought CS guitar will make me play like hendrix

Quality wise CS will probably outlast the Squier maybe not the AmStd . But here it is for the ones in doubt.

I bet if you had all of the guitars, amps, effects Hendrix played with, you wouldn't sound like him either....

Plus, the people that spend thousands more on CS guitars aren't all morons - quite the opposite.

Well said man!

I even heard if you put a Squier neck on an American body, you'll sound like the greatest and it'll outlast any guitar ever made :D

Sorry no disrespect to CS or CS owners. he tested CS is a suberb guitar and this was just a test saitisfy my own curiosity. Would a specimen like this make me sound better. I did not, probably many more sessions on my own axes will. Just sharing my personal experience. Some people even when ready to invest into CS guitar are not in luxury of trying one out due to various reasons.

Many pros are using CS in their arsenal so I figured that extra quality will give some edge on the tone. For me at the moment unfortinately did not make that much a difference.

I was just joking about sounding like Hendrix. Like the songs and style but don't care to sound like him actualy my own cover interpretation of "Hey Joe" souns better to me  . If I get a chance to video record this I will post it. this as after my AmStd goes through the promised makeover project. :P

I think with quality guitars is that it DOES make a difference depending on your skill level.

If I had to perform surgery it wouldn't matter if you gave me a scalpel or a steak knife, the results would look the same.

If you gave them to a surgeon, he could clearly do a better job with the scalpel.
Also, honing his craft with a scalpel has thought him what he can do with it, so he knows how to get the most out of it.

There is a limit to this however. As quality goes up, the difference between the quality at the different price levels gets smaller and smaller.
