Hi,
I'm new to the forum. I've had several strats over the years. (I always try something new, and eventually go back to a strat.) Anyway I just bought a HSS Highway one in flat black. The weird thing is, this guitar has a maple fretboard. I've searched everywhere for a pic of another one like this, and have come up with nothing. I bought it new from a music store, although it was a left over from last year, which means I only paid $749.99 for it. But I was wondering if any of you guys have seen a guitar like this or if it was a special order or something. Thank you for any input.

Nothing special about it, Highway Ones are available as Flat Black maple neck as sng coils. You can go to the products section for the HWY 1 and see them I am sure the HSS where like that before as well. Mean while I will check my catalogs when I get to office at home and off this laptop.

Jes...checking in! I, personally, have NEVER seen a MAPLE necked Flat Black HSS. I thought they were all rosewood boards.
The only MAPLE necked one I've seen are those FSR Highway One HSS's.

I used to be a MAPLE guy....but I've since jumped over to the Rosewood camp.....much WARMER IMHO! :D

My Flat Black little lovely.......

I hate to say ot but I think someone switched the neck on your guitar. Here is the Specs from Fender and as you'll see it does not come that way from Fender. I would love to see a pick of it if you can. It should have the '70's headstock on it which is bigger than the average Fender headstock. Sorry. RK

I know its possible the guitar shop could've changed the neck, but I highly doubt that. I go there all the time, and the people that work there kinda know me. And it did come with all the paperwork and tags etc. Heres a pic for ya:

If it came with hang tags then the one that is red and has a white outline of a strat neck with Strat guitar writen in it will have what you need on it . The back will have 4 blocks Prep,Assembly,Tune/test, inspector and under them there are two lines Part number and serial number.
Its part number may :?: end in 62 meaning maple.

Yup. It has that, and the part number matches fender.com, and the serial number matches the one on the neck.

There you go then a Maple neck HSS Hwy1 I dont think you have to worry its just not showing as a 2009 model as you said you got it at the old price because it was NOS

Wow. Nice guitar.

Maybe it is a something that Fender made (FSR) for that dealer(s). I just never seen one and not listed as an option from Fender website. It does have the oversized headstock. I have to admit it looks awesome. All I can say is congrats on the new guitar and have fun with it. Thanks for the pic. RK

THEfatalEFFECT,

Sorry for jumping the gun on my 1st post. After reading and seeing I can see I was in the wrong.

cvilleira,

Thank you. I did read the previous posts and if you notice in my previous post I gave the web address to the specs for the HSS Stratocaster Highway 1 from this website. Like I said I never seen one before and this site does not mention it in the specs. Again I thought the neck was switched out at he dealer. But as long as the 62 code is on the paperwork it all works out.

I even asked THEfatalEFFECT to post pics so I could see the guitar for myself. I ment to recant my previous statement that someone switched the neck because it looked legit and after reading the "code" statement I had to eat my words.

This is why I love this site it because you always learn something new.
