Yeah your a bit way out east. All i can suggest anywhere near you is the guitarshop in kings lynn. I've been there and they seem ok, but i've never used em. Aside from that theres the one in market square boston but if your going there im worth the extra 25miles travel (grantham).

Aside from them all i can suggest is ipswich or denmark street london. All options seem to be a jaunt.

Well if your ever passing call in for a cuppa.

cheers nikininja will do!

yeah spoke to a bloke today, whos ment to be really good. funnily enough when i mentioned the shop, he said he gets lots of guitars from that place, people who have had pickup changes and they wont work properly, bad set ups the lot. never ever going back there, anyway this bloke said he will show me , talk me through evreything he will do. really pleased, seeing him next tuesday. thanks for your help on this! im gonna take your advice and report him to fender tho.

Hi louis1: like Niki I don't know anyone to recommend in Norfolk I'm afraid; sorry. I can suggest a couple of very good names in London if you want to come that far - but you certainly shouldn't need to.

You just have to ask around amongst guitarists and find the name of a respected tech and take your guitar there. I hesitate to mention any other forums here, but you could try logging on to musicradar.com and ask if anyone knows a decent tech in your area...?

I completely understand your reluctance to return to the shop in question. As Chet said, someone who tells you he's messed up your guitar because you've got the wrong gauge strings on it is not to be trusted to polish it, much less anything else. Total small spherical objects.

Still, at worst this fella's cut your nut too low (as previously mentioned). That's a royal pain in the behind - but not unfixable.

If the original guy was Fender Approved (which sounds unlikely) you have a clear case for getting the work put right under warranty. Remember, that can be done at any Authorised Fender Dealer, not just the place you bought it.

But if he was not Approved I'm afraid you will have to pay for a proper setup and possibly a new nut. Something like £40 - 60. Frustrating, to say the least. The only way round that is to take it up with the first shop, which might get heated. You would absolutely have consumer law on your side, though. Your Statutory Right is to have the job put right or/and get your money back.

Good luck - C

thanks ceri. appriciate your input! hopefully found a good bloke now! you right ive defenatly got the law on my side! i just wud never trust them with my guitar ever again, (and to think i was gonna take my accoustics there to be serviced) im really looking forward to the email im gonna send him! thanks m8

Now this new bloke sounds the kind of service thats worth paying for. Take my advice with tech's. When you find a good one
Pay em quickly
Give whatever they suggest good consideration
Dont be suprised if they cant sort your beloved out immediately.

Stick to them rules and you will both enjoy a good and lasting relationship.

Good plan. If he's actually an Authorised Dealer they need to know what a lousy job he's doing.

Cut out the middleman and report direct to Fender UK, via phone, mail or email - here:

http://www.fender.co.uk/resources/conta ... mation.php

Regarding trepidation at returning to the source of the problem: unfortunately, this is a difficulty in many areas of life. The law supports us strongly in seeking redress from someone who's done bad work, whether on our cars, houses or bodies. However, that person is usually the last one we'd trust to put right their previous mistakes...

Cheers - C
