did you sell you kids for the cash (if you even have kids) ! haha

i'd prefer the highway one- vintage styling, nitro finish, american quality is unbeatable. the nitro also makes the guitar feel much lighter and you don't have fingerprint problems. i personally am going to get a highway one as soon as i have the cash.

the powerhouse aint bad either but i've never been a fan of active pickups and the bodies on mexis normally are mad of many pieces of wood instead of about three for the highway one. less pieces of wood the lighter the guitar is (because it uses less glue) also with fewer pieces of wood you get a better acoustic (nitro finish helps too)

hope i helped. happpy buyin!

My experience with my Highway One is good. No active midboost, but the pickups (MIM) are versatile. If you turn down the tone to about 4 and up the volume you get a boost in mid and it can sound fat.

I like the highway one's for similar reasons stated above. The thing I like about highway ones is that the thin finish - IMHO - lets the wood resonate more - and the finish ages faster.

The downside is if you want to keep it mint looking.

I have both and they are two of my favorites.

I think the Powerhouse is one of the most underrated guitars in the Fender lineup. The 12dB boost can give you a humbucker sound when you need one and the pickups are noiseless because there's a dummy coil under the pickguard. The sound is a bit darker and warmer than most Strats. One caution: The guitar doesn't work at all without a 9v battery. Be sure you unplug when you're done playing or it will drain the battery. With that said, the battery life is pretty long.

The Hwy 1 is great too, but different. I have the original model - pre-upgrades, pre-Greasebucket - and it logs more playing time than my American series Strat, in fact, it logs more hrs than all 12 of my axes.

If you can, you should play 'em before you buy 'em.
