I want to darken the covers on my Hot Noiseless pups to match the knobs. I do know the covers can be removed if care is taken not to break the coil wires, however I do not know specifically how to do this. Any input from some of you builders would be appreciated. I want to do the coffee stain process, as I did with the knobs, but I would hate to put the entire pup in a wet solution. I know someone here has the answer!

Don't know how to post pic here, but here's the history. 2000/1 standard MIM. Orig owner bought in 2002, gigged 3 nites a week for 6 years in upper NY State. I bought it in 2008. I've totally modded except wood and paint. OK, I hear yah. Fender/Schaller locking tuners, Fender roller tree, Graph-tech Black Tusk XL nut, back of neck sheen taken off, fret ends rounded and dressed, Schaller locking strap pins w/black felts, new Fender pickguard, Fender Tex-Mex pups w/Callaham baseplates on all pups, Graph-tech String Saver saddles, Callaham Block, arm and trem screws, Mil-Spec/NASA shielded w/ star point ground. Master Vol, Master Tone, and Blender Pots, all Fender No-Load CTS, Fender CRL switch. All wiring with cloth pushback wire except 3 conductor shielded wire to Switchcraft output jack. Black custom neck plate - "Custom Series, Limited Edition" laser etched. Black 3-ply trem cover. I still feel like I've left something out  Oh yeh, the pics. HELP!

if they are made the same way as vintage noiseless then just ease the cover off. Never use excessive force is the general rule.

I dont think standard size pickup covers fit noiseless pickups.

Thanks Niki, that's what I thought, but it's always good to have confirmation from a reliable source such as yourself... just would dislike ruining a good set of pups by rushing ahead blindly all on my own, thanks again. My plan is to use the orig covers and just stain them. I realised from previous pup cover changes that not all interchange (to my regret) however those changes worked out well, 'tho only because I had spares that fit correctly. Is it just me, or did I hear JR say "don't worry about the color, just play the thing!"
