Is the American deluxe Strat body 2 or 3 pieces? there is this rumor that a deluxe has a 2 piece body and that the American standard has a 3 piece body ... I called Fender but they didn't give me a clear answer ...

Anyone with more info ?

I have the Tobacco sunburst on my Ash deluxe .... its transparent ... so I guess its a 2 piece body ... I can only see one straight line all the way through ... but looks may be deceptive ...

I don't think it'll affect tone or anything ... but doesn't a two piece body cost more to put together compared to a single piece .. apparently not ....

The answer isn't clear because not every piece of wood they use for a body is the same. They are 2 - 3 pieces.

There is an added cost to assembling
2 pieces together but the cost would
be far greater to find a single board
of instrument grade quality to span the
width of the guitar.
