Got a buddy who is selling a mid-90's Fender Custom Shop "American Classic" Stratocaster. How do I figure out the value, and what to offer him. Also, how do I discover the specs for teh guitar? Thanx in advance for any help

as for the specs go to the products tab at the top of the fender page, when you get to that there will be a custom shop tab. click that and search custom classic. that will tell you the current specs. since it's an older model it may be a little different though. as for the price you need to assess what condition the guitar is in. also the guitar isn't vintage yet it isn't new so it's worth quite a bit less than the current sticker price even if it's mint. another good way to get price ideas is to look on ebay at comprable models.

if you have any other questions feel free to ask. hope i helped.

Thanx very much for the post. I actually have an 06 Custom Classic. This particular guitar is an "American Classic" Custom Shop from the mid-90's. Best I can tell it may have been aimed at the surf player market as it shared pickups with the Dick Dale model.

Was this model the pre-cursor to the Custom Classic?

Anyone know? Radius, frets, body wood material etc.? Thanx so much for any information.
