hey guys!

just wondering if any of you have a mim that you modded?

i'm planning to upgrade mine but still slightly hesitant as to what to.

so far what i want to get is...

vintage locking tuners (they're nice + their locking!! don't wanna drill my neck though...)

tusq nut (science shows better than bone!)

callaham total assembly (so damn expensive though)

cs 54 or 69 pick ups (their good!)

upgrade the electronics inside (i heard cts is good?!)

but money is an issue (i wish it wasn't) so i just wanna read what you guys got done so far :D

What havent i done to my poor old battle axe?
set the neck flat and put the relief in the frets.
New sapelle body then reverted back to the original (now considering the sapelle again).
Clapton midboost circuit with vintage noiseless pickups and a tone circuit rather than TBX now changed to TBX with 0.5 cap. Also added resistors to the output of the circuit to lower output.
Schaller straplocks
Wilkinson self locking tuners and vintage trem.
Earvana nut, made out of graphtec like material for great slip through and shaped for near perfect intonation at the lower frets.

Of all my guitars its my favourite and a complete labour of love.

Middle one not the telecaster

I have one that I've upgraded a lot on cosmetically, as well as changed the pickups on. I put in Vintage Noiseless Strat pickups, but now I'm debating whether I should sell them and go with Custom Shop pickups of some kind. I put Custom Shop Texas Specials on my Squier, so I'd like some Custom Shop pickups of another kind for my Fender. Though I'll have to wait for a little while until I can afford it. I was originally thinking of changing the tuners out on my MIM Fender, but I've found that the stock tuners work perfectly fine. I was going to change out the bridge on it, but that also has turned out to be perfectly fine. There's not much I can think of doing to a MIM strat aside from a pickup upgrade. Well, there's the nut, I still might change that out.

It's stock, and it's one of the older ones ('04) that are supposed to have less sustain than the new ones. I don't really notice the difference.

really?
the only diff from the old onw and the new ones are the sizes, but it's still zinc,
supposedly upgrading to a full steel one'll be a huge jump.

I have upgraded my MIM, changed the nut to a graphtech nut, changed the pickups and wiring to a set of H S S emg 81 and two emg SA's in middle and neck... and also the third tone knob I converted it to a mix in knob for the bridge pickup...... :)

2004 MIM Std
- Tex Mex pups (no wonder to me why Fender uses these so widely; great pups for the money)
- MIA Deluxe saddles
- '06 trem block (which are much larger than the pre-06's)
- tinted the neck and headstock
- Pearloid pickguard
- Black knobs
- Tweed case (the Fender case in the pic went to my Squier Thinline Tele)

It feels done to me. I am not compelled to change a thing. It's a killer to me ...

I'm not actually sure hehe. I got them at a pawn shop and they were in an unmarked bag. There pretty cool cause they look vintage but they have the modern string through post instead of the usual vintage split style. Only $12 and they are very accurate.
